Dal Puri Chat instructions

  1. To prepare chanadal stuffing.. Wash and soak chanadal for 2 hours. Pressure cook with little water,salt (3 whistles).
  2. Add chopped onion and green chillies & ginger pieces in mixer jar. Grind to smooth paste..
  3. Heat oil in kadhai,do tempering (tadka) of cinnamon sticks and cloves. Add grinded paste, saute till ghee comes out. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and lemon juice or imli paste. Add little water and boil it..
  4. Add turmeric powder red chilli powder and lemon juice or imli paste. Add little water, salt and boil it for 1 minute. Add boiled chanadal. Cook on slow flame for 5 minutes. Chanadal stuffing is ready to use..
  5. To make khajur chutney.. deseed khajur/dates. Add water and pressure cook for 4 whistles. Cool and grind in mixer jar with red chilli powder, cummin seeds powder,salt and lemon juice with little water to make thick pouring consistency chutney.   6. To prepare Dal Puri Chat..make hole in centre in pani puri puris with your thumb. Place in serving plate. Add 1 tbsp of chanadal stuffing in each cavity of puri. On it pour 1 tsp each of khajur chutney and spicy green chutney..
  7. Put little chopped onion and tomatoes pieces. On it sprinkle besan sev, chat masala. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and pomegranate pearls..
